The Centre for Urban Research and Planning (CURP) at the University of Zambia is launching a comprehensive research initiative to strengthen urban climate resilience across major Zambian cities. This ambitious project brings together leading researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders to develop evidence-based adaptation strategies. The research will focus on three key areas: 1. **Urban Flooding and Drainage Systems**: Analyzing current infrastructure and proposing sustainable solutions 2. **Heat Island Effects**: Studying urban temperature patterns and recommending mitigation measures 3. **Community Preparedness**: Building local capacity for climate adaptation The initiative is funded by international development partners and will run for three years, with findings to be shared publicly through reports, workshops, and policy briefs.
