Voices of Impact
Hear from the communities, policymakers, and partners whose lives have been transformed by our research
"In Zambia we have been guided by the 8th National Development Plan with regards the development aspirations of our people. As the Centre for Urban Research and Planning at the University of Zambia we want to be the conveners and conveyors of the practical information on the ground. It is vitally important to ensure our interventions as various stakeholders are guided by research that practically shows the reality on the ground - this is why we are here as CURP."
Prof Trywell Kalusopa
Deputy Vice-Chancellor - UNZA
"As front line workers in service delivery to our communities we see it as very important for us to collaborate with researchers and other stakeholders both locally and internationally in order to find and implement real solutions for our people. We at Lusaka City Council are excited about these initiatives and look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration."
Ms Chilando Chitangala
Her Worship Mayor of Lusaka
"This place used to be open and water could flow freely and we had no problems with flooding. Now we have floods every year because we have houses and building structures that have been built on drainage systems. We need lasting solutions to these problems that bring all parties involved to the same table."
Joseph Mwewa
Kanyama Community Member
"We have seen a gradual increase of flooding with the effects of climate change. Additionally, the problem of flooding is further worsened due to illegal dumping of garbage in our drainages, illegal construction of houses and other structures that disturb the flow of water into our stream. We have a big challenge and welcome all the help we can get to find lasting solutions to these challenges."
